Over the last two weeks, I’ve provided 10 content ideas for small businesses to post on social media. As a small business owner or marketing staff member, it’s hard to constantly develop social media content that you believe will resonate with your audience. You have many other responsibilities as part of your daily activities. Sometimes, social media is the last task you feel like dealing with. When I was the Director of Marketing, I was pulled in a million different directions, which didn't allow my creative juices to flow when I sat down to schedule my social media. I constantly had people coming into my office, asking for help with other tasks, or I thought that my list of other daily duties took priority over social media. That’s why I’m providing a helpful list to all of you. Here are my top five content ideas that will work for you. Not all of the content ideas I’ve provided need to be incorporated into your schedule, but these top five are my favorites and have proven to be highly beneficial for the businesses I’ve worked with over the past 25 years.
5. Engaging Questions and Polls: Create interactive posts that encourage followers to share their opinions or experiences. This boosts engagement and fosters community. This can be as simple as showing two pictures of a product and asking the community to choose the one they prefer. A call to action is essential to include in every post, but this one is concise and will effectively engage your audience.
4. Educational Content: Provide valuable tips, how-tos, or tutorials related to your industry. This positions your business as an authority and offers real value to your audience.
3. Promotions and Special Offers: Regularly share information about discounts, sales, or exclusive offers. This can drive traffic and encourage immediate purchases.
2. Customer Testimonials and Reviews: Post positive feedback from satisfied customers. Highlighting real experiences can build trust and encourage potential customers to engage with your business. This can be achieved with a video (which is even better) featuring a happy customer, or you can create a video of yourself discussing how pleased a customer is with your product. Additionally, people enjoy seeing their name or experience featured on a business's social media page.
1. Behind-the-Scenes Content: Share images or videos showcasing daily operations, team members, or the production process. This helps humanize your brand and builds a connection with your audience. These are highly effective when trying to grow your brand and audience.
By consistently implementing these posts, small businesses can effectively engage their audience, foster brand loyalty, and enhance their visibility on social media platforms.
