Tips for Increasing Visibility Through Social Media

How can you get the community, specifically your audience, to see what you are posting on social media? Whether you’re just starting out or looking to elevate your online presence, here are five tips that will help you stand out, connect with your ideal customers, and convert those likes into loyal fans. Let’s dive in!
1. Know Your Audience (Like, Really Know Them)
Before you post a single selfie with your product, take a beat to figure out who you’re actually talking to. If you’ve been posting for a while, but still feel like you aren’t connecting, take a closer look at who your audience is. Are your ideal customers busy parents, local foodies, or tech-loving teens? Do some audience research and hang out where they hang out online. This helps you choose the right platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn—pick what fits!) and craft content that speaks their language. 2. Consistency is Queen (or King!)
Ever followed a brand that posts three times in one week, then disappears for a month? Don’t be that brand. Consistent posting builds trust and keeps you top of mind. Use a content calendar to plan ahead and schedule posts at the times your audience is most active—many tools, like Hootsuite, can even suggest the best times for you. META business suite, which is what I use, does this too. I know…..I’ve said this before, but when I repeat something enough times, you’ll realize it’s really, really important. People who know me well and hear me speak about social media are tired of me saying “consistency is key”, but IT IS!
3. Mix Up Your Content
Variety keeps things interesting! Share behind-the-scenes peeks, customer testimonials, quick tips, fun videos, and even a meme or two (if it fits your vibe). Don’t forget about platform-specific features—Instagram Stories, Facebook Groups, and LinkedIn Articles can all boost engagement.
4. Harness the Power of Hashtags
Hashtags are like little beacons that help new people find you. Use a mix of trending, industry-specific, and branded hashtags to expand your reach. But don’t go overboard—pick the ones that actually make sense for your post and audience. When using the Planner in META Business Suite, typing in a hashtag will display its popularity, which is very helpful when choosing ones that make sense.
5. Engage, Don’t Just Broadcast
Social media isn’t a megaphone—it’s a two-way street. Respond to comments, answer questions, and join conversations. Spend a few minutes each day liking and commenting on other people’s posts, too. This not only builds relationships but also gets your name out there (hello, network effect!). This can easily been done for a few minutes on your phone while sitting on the couch at the end of the day.
